The fun of fishing...

Yesterday was a big day at the Norfolk National Fish Hatchery: the annual Outdoor Adventure. It was a day full of children's smiles. Happy faces catching the first trout in their life directly from one of the raceways, proud young fishermen catching and releasing Rainbow, Brown, and Cutthroats from the Dry Run Creek, smiling faces after the first kayak adventure. So many things to do from learning how to make flies to attract trouts to painting your own trout piece of art. What a great family day organized by the Friends of the Hatchery. Great effort by the hatchery staff in supporting it, and a blessed day for us by being part of it. All trouts are back in the creek or in one of the raceways, and as General Schwarzkopf said: "The fun of fishing is catching 'em, not killing 'em".

Fishing is a sport, or at least that is how I look at it. Well, it takes a lot of skill to be able to catch a fish you know. Of course, most people think that it is just a hobby for me, but that is not the case here. I love fishing, and I do it because it gives me an amazing thrill. It is more than just a hobby to me, in fact, I see it as a never ending challenge.

Thank you so much for your reply. My wife Peggy will have fly fishing lessons while we are here in the Ozarks and I am looking forward to go for crappie while we are in Mississippi. Just follow our journey!

The one thing I really love about fishing is that it dies not discriminate against any skill level. There are always fishing opportunities available.
